We like riding bikes!

We are a diverse group of people living in the Bishops Castle area with one thing in common - we like riding bikes! We organise rides for riders of all abilities, and we are affiliated to Cycling UK for the protection of all.

Rides are on the first Wednesday of the month. Rides are normally "meet at destination" rides, enabling riders of all abilities to meet at a place and time to socialise together.

In addition, an informal "further, faster" group meets each Wednesday at the Six Bells Pub. You should use the link below to contact us if you think you might want to join this ride for the first time, so that we can let you know if it's going to be right for you.

Riders Collect at the Bog

by Maxine Rogers

Very few people seemed to be about which meant that the ride to the Bog centre was a bit of an individual thing, and only a few individuals at that. Jim and Rose rode (presumably) a lengthy route to get there. Paul rode there directly but quickly, setting out some time after I did but obviously arriving before me: and Hugh, Lou and Ben arrived by car, incorporating a walk.

I rode to the Bog Centre via Shelve and I rode home via Snailbeach, at Snail's pace, but being in the mood for a few more miles than a direct route would have given me. I'm always daunted by hills and I choose my routes so as to make them manageable. I was so late for my lunch at home that Paul had started to worry!

But I enjoy my solitary dawdles, especially when the weather is fair, the trees are in leaf, and the woodlands smell of the coming of autumn's bounty.
