We like riding bikes!

We are a diverse group of people living in the Bishops Castle area with one thing in common - we like riding bikes! We organise rides for riders of all abilities, and we are affiliated to Cycling UK for the protection of all.

Rides are on the first Wednesday of the month. Rides are normally "meet at destination" rides, enabling riders of all abilities to meet at a place and time to socialise together.

In addition, an informal "further, faster" group meets each Wednesday at the Six Bells Pub. You should use the link below to contact us if you think you might want to join this ride for the first time, so that we can let you know if it's going to be right for you.

Gregynog Hall

by Kay Radford

We have just been so lucky with the weather for all our rides this year and Sunday was no exception. Ten of us met in Montgomery Square in warm sunshine. Shorts and T shirts were on show for some (for the last time this year?).

Summer, anyone?
Then a beautiful, if a little hilly, ride through the Welsh autumn countryside to cross the River Severn near Garthmyl then winding our way up to Betws Cedewain and Tregynon with the final ride up the long driveway to the magnificent black and white Gregynog Hall set in its manicured gardens and extensive wooded grounds.

The cafe is in the stables surrounding a sheltered courtyard and a good lunch was enjoyed by all. The group then split up with Paul and Maxine continuing to Machynlleth whilst the others made their way down the Rhiw valley to Berriew - a superb, long, gentle descent - and finally back to Montgomery and beyond.

A final visit to the Bog in 2017

By Paul Rogers

I couldn't resist the title - it still brings a childish chuckle to my mind! Our Wednesday cafe meet to the Bog centre drew a crowd of 12 riders, arriving from directions far and wide. Great to see Ian finally make it out on one of our rides after marshalling alongside him at the Triathlon in July - thanks for your help. Much coffee, cake and banter at this great cafe in the middle of nowhere, soon set to close for the winter. AGM in a couple of weeks time so time to think of a destination you could consider for a ride in 2018.
