The weather has not been great so far this year so the rides have been a little challenging at times.
First
up was on 3rd January - in a howling gale - to Lakeside golf Club at
Garthmyl. As I had arranged it I felt duty bound to ride there,
choosing the little lanes to glean what shelter we could. Chris and I
were the only ones to cycle as everyone else sensibly arrived by car.
However 9 of us had a very convivial New Year lunch in the excellent
Lakeside Club House.
Next was on Sunday
21st January to The Maltings in Clun. Torrential rain this time but
10 arrived by car or on foot for another convivial lunch. Better luck
next time we thought.
Wednesday
7th February dawned bright and sunny but with sheet ice all over the
roads. 4 of us braved the ice to pick our way to Bird on the Rock at
Abcott. Another 6 had walked but a very good lunch was enjoyed by
all.
Sunday
18th February was just rather dreary with a very small turnout of 5
to Ivy House in Montgomery.
Wednesday
6th March Rose organised a ride to Catch Bistro in Church Stretton
whilst Paul, Maxine, myself and Chris enjoyed warm sunshine and
glorious riding out in Spain.
Finally
the ride on Sunday 18th March had to be postponed due to over a foot
of snow having fallen overnight. It was moved to Wednesday 21st - a
much better day if a bit cold and windy and some ice still on the
roads. 7 of us made it out to Aardvark books at Brampton Bryan.
Let's
hope the weather improves a bit from now on!
