So on the 22nd August off Yavuz and I went. We took some back lanes running parallel to the A49 which we crossed at Dorrington. We passed some lovely houses and farmsteads not far from the A49 which were quite different from what we normally see locally. Then we headed north eastwards to Atcham. Between Condover and Berrington we should have turned off for Cantlop but missed the turning - I was trying to follow the route on my phone but it proved quite difficult.
We passed Attingham Park which covers a large area and apparently is the National Trust's most visited property. I can believe it because on one occasion when we visited it, there was a constant stream of cars travelling up the driveway. My planned routes' sights were more understated but just as interesting.

The castle is a ruin but a lovely quiet spot to take in the atmospheric setting. A short hop from Acton Burnell to Langley would have taken us to another atmostpheric place, the chapel with its 17th century timber pews but alas another turning missed!
The final stretch took us through Cardington then Hope Bowdler and down the hill into Church Stretton. All these sights are English Heritage and I would certainly do it again and try not to miss the chapel and bridge. Anyone else interested?
